A lot of local businesses are still invisible online
Here is the honest state of things. Government-backed research suggests roughly a third of UK businesses still have no website, rising to around 35% of sole traders. Trades make up a big share of that. Construction alone accounts for about 16% of all UK businesses, and a huge number of them rely on word of mouth and a Facebook page.
That is a problem and an opportunity at the same time. A problem because customers searching online cannot find you. An opportunity because the local rival who gets a proper site first scoops up that search traffic.
