How I work

How I work, from first message to launch

Local Web Studio is me, Danny, in Prescot. I take on one or two websites at a time and build every one myself, so this is exactly what happens, in order, and what I promise along the way.

What happens, in order

  1. You get in touch

Through the contact form, a call, WhatsApp or email. I reply within four working hours on weekdays, and it is always me.

  2. A short conversation

What you do, who for, and what you need the website to do. If I am not the right person for it, I would rather tell you then than later.

  3. A free homepage concept

If it is a good fit, I design a working sample of your homepage so you can judge it on your own business before you pay anything. How the concept works.

  4. A fixed price, in writing

What you get and what it costs are agreed in writing before I start, and the price does not change after that. £100 holds your slot in the diary; on Essentials the rest is £325 at design approval and £325 at launch, or you can spread it over twelve months. Every figure is on the pricing page.

  5. Your content, agreed

We settle what goes on each page: your services, your photographs, your words. What I need from you is listed below, and most people already have more of it than they think.

  6. The build, and your review

I build the site around your business and share it as it comes together. You review everything before it goes live, and I refine it with your feedback.

  7. Launch and handover

I set up the hosting, connect your domain and take the site live, then walk you through how it all works. Most Essentials and Signature sites go live within a week of the content being agreed.

  8. After launch

The first twelve months of hosting are included, then it is £96 a year. Care plans, from £65 a month, are there if you would rather I kept an eye on things, and entirely optional.

What I need from you

  • What you do and who for: your services, and your prices if you publish them.
  • Photographs of your work, your premises or your team, whatever you have. Phone photos are often fine.
  • Your contact details and opening hours, and the areas you cover.
  • Your logo, if you have one.
  • Access to your domain if you already own one. If you do not, I register one in your name.
  • Anything else you already use: posts, reviews, leaflets, a price list. It is usually enough to start from.

What I promise, in plain words

The price is the price
The price agreed in writing is what you pay. Anything new, meaning building something rather than changing something, is quoted and agreed in writing before I start it.
You see it first
If it is a good fit, you see your homepage before you pay anything, and you review the whole site before it goes live.
It is yours
You own it once it is paid for, in full or on the last instalment, and your domain is registered in your name from day one.
You can leave
If you ever move to another developer or host, I hand over the code, the domain and the accounts and answer your new developer’s questions. No fee and no notice period.
No tie-in
Care plans are optional. You can cancel one with 30 days’ notice and no fee, and your website stays exactly where it is.
You deal with me
From the first message to launch and after it, the person you talk to is the person building your site.
No VAT
Local Web Studio is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged.

The same promises, in full, are in the terms.

Start with a message

Tell me a little about your business and what you need the website to do. I will reply within four working hours on weekdays.
